First things first: Anil Kumble is a pretty bad photographer. Most, if not all, the photos in this book are sub-standard pictures taken by a guy who may be enthusiastic about his prowess as a cameraman, but is as good at the job as Henri Cartier Bresson was at spin bowling.

But this book is about unlimited access to the gods that are our India’s cricketers. So Wide Angle has great documentary value. Like the ongoing IPL, immensely tacky and overpriced, but ‘must-see’ as well.
