A case was registered against the official on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 to waive the penalty of Rs 4 lakh on the provident fund dues of Rs 7 lakhs payable by the college, officials said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the anti-corruption branch of CBI raided the sub-regional office here late last night and seized the cash, officials said.

Further investigation is on.
