Piramal buys cipla’s I-pill for Rs 95 cr

Emergency contraceptive ‘i-pill’ became a Piramal Healthcare product on Tuesday with Piramal Healthcare Limited and Cipla Limited signing an agreement for purchase of all intellectual property rights related to the brand in India for Rs 95 crore.

I-pill features in the top-300 pharmaceutical products and had sales of Rs 30.9 crore. The acquisition strengthens Piramal’s over the counter portfolio, which has brands such as Lacto Calamine and Saridon.
