Reliance pays 7.7 bln rupee tax in Jan-March

Reliance Industries has paid 7.7 billion rupees ($169 million) as advance tax for the March quarter compared with 3.65 billion rupees a year ago, an income tax department source said on Monday.

Reliance Industries has paid 7.7 billion rupees ($169 million) as advance tax for the March quarter compared with 3.65 billion rupees a year ago, an income tax department source said on Monday.

Cement maker ACC paid 3.3 billion rupees, from 3.4 billion rupees a year ago, the source, who did not wish to be named, added.

State-run Union Bank of India paid 1.85 billion rupees, from 2.53 billion rupees a year ago.

TCS paid 1.78 billion rupees, from 530 million rupees earlier and Ambuja Cement paid 1.2 billion rupees, from 1.25 billion rupees a year ago.

Asian Paints paid 600 million rupees, versus 430 million rupees earlier, the official said.
