"The total number of PF accounts maintained for Satyam employees does not include associates of the company who are foreign nationals and do not fall under India's PF regulations."

Satyam has a over 60 nationalities represented in its global workforce and it has presence in over 65 countries.

There were reports in the media stating that the company has only 43,622 employees on its payrolls as stated in the PF records, not 53,000 as claimed by the company.

The company said the employee figures quoted by the Provident Fund Organisation also does not include associates of Satyam BPO and other companies acquired by Satyam such as Bridge Strategy, Citisoft, S&V globally.

The spokesperson further added that the company continues to work with the audit firms reviewing the headcount data.
