Sensex recovers 136 pts in early trade

The benchmark Sensex recovered by over 136 point in early morning trade on buying by funds in heavy-weight stocks.

The benchmark Sensex recovered by over 136 point in early morning trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday on buying by funds in heavy-weight stocks.

The 30-share index, which broke its 11-day rising spree by loosing 70 points in previous day's dealing, shot up by 136.22 points to 17,913.36 points in the first five minutes of trade this morning.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange Index, Nifty rose by 38.15 point to 5,246.80 points.

The market remained volatile and new listing of Power Grid stock surge to Rs 105 against its offer price of Rs 52 on NSE which recorded a business volume at 9 crore shares. On BSE, 17 lakh shares exchanged hands at the counter.
