The team of doctors at Gian Sagar celebrated the successful completion of the operation. Senior oncologist from USA and chairman of Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital Dr Barjinder Singh said the child was first examined by doctors at Harvinder Memorial Cancer Center during a free medical checkup camp held in Samana in November 2013. "The child had unknown origin of fever, pain in abdomen, and severe constipation, and was advised for a detailed checkup," added Dr Barjinder during a press conference held at Chandigarh Press Club.

"We came across reports that showed mass in abdomen. The biopsy report confirmed that child was suffering from cancer of abdomen," he added.

Manish underwent seven cycles of chemotherapy and surgery was planned after the completion of seven chemo cycles, in which, lymph nodes and abdominal mass was removed.
