Badal mourns death of Dara Singh

Punjab Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief over the sad demise of renowned Punjabi wrestler and veteran Bollywood actor Dara Singh (84) who breathed his last at his residence in Mumbai after a brief illness this morning.

Punjab Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday expressed profound grief over the sad demise of renowned Punjabi wrestler and veteran Bollywood actor Dara Singh (84) who breathed his last at his residence in Mumbai after a brief illness this morning.

In a condolence message, Badal described Rustam-e-Hind Dara Singh as a multifaceted personality who earned fame on the international stage. Badal added that Dara Singhalso acted in over 100 films and was a Member of Rajya Sabha from August 2003-09. He was a fine human being with rare qualities.

Badal also recalled the outstanding contribution of Dara Singh in making the Punjabi cinema popular among the masses. He said that Dara Singh's memorable role of Hanuman in the famous television serial 'Ramayana' would be remembered by one and all.

Badal shared his heart-felt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul.
