Former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday appeared in the district court here in connection with the Amritsar Improvement Trust (AIT) case. The court allowed Amarinder to go to Dubai (UAE) and South Africa from July 15 to August 15.

The former CM's counsel, Ramdeep Partap Singh, said Amarinder had applied in the court for permission to go abroad. "He has been allowed to go abroad after depositing a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh," Ramdeep said.
The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for August 2.Talking to the media outside the court, Amarinder said the state Congress unit remained united and there were no differences between party leaders.
When asked about the working of new state unit president Partap Singh Bajwa, Amarinder said, "He is doing well."On the recent panchayat elections, he said, "It was murder of democracy. Congress supporters were mercilessly beaten up and falsely booked to prevent them from contesting the elections."
