Haryana signs power purchase pact to tackle power crisis
Haryana power minister Ajay Singh Yadav today said the state government had signed a power purchase contract to purchase 350 MW of more power which would help it tide over the power problem in the state by July 15.

Talking to reporters here, capt Yadav said Jhajjar power plant would soon be started and it would help in solving the power problem.
In order to handle the power problem caused due to faults in the three thermal plants of the state, the state government had purchased 500 MW additional power till June 15, he added.
The power minister said two power plants of Yamunanagar and Khedar Thermal Power Plant suffered faults and that caused power problem in the state.
He said the machinery of thermal plants developed snags, which caused the problem.
Despite these problems, the state government had been providing about eight hours power supply to the farmers, about nine-ten hours to rural areas, about 15-20 hours to urban areas and adequate power supply to the industries, capt Yadav added.
