Hooda said that in his view Sharma - like a few others - had lost his political standing and since he was not hopeful of getting party ticket in the ensuing assembly election, he joined Bahujan Samaj Party.

"It happens around all elections and people who have neither standing nor any hope to get party ticket, change parties," he said. "We had some such persons who are leaving Congress as their only aim is to get ticket whichever party gives it," he said, subtly referring to Rajya Sabha member and former AICC general secretary Birender Singh who recently joined the BJP.
