Punjab: Corpus fund for gallantry awardees

The Punjab government has created a corpus fund of Rs 50 lakh, to begin with, to provide financial assistance to gallantry awardees, war widows and scholarships to their children.

The Punjab government has created a corpus fund of Rs 50 lakh, to begin with, to provide financial assistance to gallantry awardees, war widows and scholarships to their children.

An additional relief of Rs 2 lakh was provided to dependent parents of martyrs who were killed in any notified operation on or after January 1, 1999, an official spokesman said here.

A sum of Rs 5 lakh was provided in lieu of plot/house to each dependent of martyrs and to '75% to 100%' disabled soldiers in any notified operation since January 1, 1999, the spokesman added.
