Senior Akali leader Gurcharan Ghalib passes away

Former MP and senior Akali leader Gurcharan Singh Ghalib passed away on Saturday morning at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana. Ghalib, 82, was admitted here at DMCH for the past some days. He is survived by wife, son and three daughters.

Former MP and senior Akali leader Gurcharan Singh Ghalib passed away on Saturday morning at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana.

Ghalib, 82, was admitted here at DMCH for the past some days. He is survived by wife, son and three daughters.

Ghalib remained Congress MP from Ludhiana till 2009 but joined Shiromani Akali Dal when Manish Tewari was given ticket for Lok Sabha elections by Congress.

At present he was vice-president of Shiromani Akali Dal.

Cremation would take place on Sunday at his native village Ghalib Kalan.
