
Uzbek woman arrested for assaulting female constable in Sector 22
Chandigarh police arrested a Uzbek woman on Tuesday for allegedly creating ruckus outside Hotel City Heart in Sector 22 here and assaulting a woman constable, who sustained injuries on her lips.
The accused identified as Mohavat Rahimova (28), stays in SAS Nagar.
The police said it appeared that the woman was inebriated by the way she was having a heated argument with a taxi operator over fares.
The police said that Rahimova had hired taxi from IT Park to Sector 22.
After the police control room (PCR) received information about a foreign nationalist woman creating ruckus outside at Sector 22 it reached the spot along with a woman constable, Anu, and tried to pacify the situation.
While the cops were trying to handle the situation, the foreigner woman resisted and assaulted Anu, who later had to get stitches.
Police post in charge, Sector 22 Desh Raj said following her assault on the female constable on duty, Rahimova was arrested. Sources said that doctors also confirmed that she was under influence of some intoxicant.
Police sources claimed that the accused woman was also booked for immoral trafficking, by Mohali police in 2012.
Meanwhile, a case under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from performing duty) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of Indian Penal Code has been registered against the woman at Sector 17 police station and investigation in the matter has been initiated.
