Jammu-based political parties, including Bharatiya Janata Party and Jammu State Morcha staged a walkout from the Jammu and Kashmir assembly on Thursday while Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party created uproar over an issue of west Pakistan refugees.
BJP legislator Ashok Khajuria raised the issue of west Pakistan refugees during the Question Hour and asked the government to provide them citizenship rights for which they are fighting since decades.
Amid ruckus, the four BJP legislators supported by the JSM and JKNPP said the refugees were fighting for their legal rights but the government was yet to consider their demand of citizenship.
"The refugees were forced to march towards Delhi to gherao Parliament as the state government has failed to meet their aspirations," the BJP legislators alleged.
The BJP and JSM members later staged walkout from the assembly.
