24-year-old biker crushed under truck in Zirakpur

A 24-year-old motorcyclist was crushed under the wheels of a truck at Singapura lightpoint in Zirakpur on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Dharmendra Lal, a resident of Raipur Kalan in Chandigarh, and was working in Zirakpur.

Investigating officer (IO) Bhushan Kumar said that around 2pm, the victim was going towards Zirakpur on his motorcycle for some work. When he reached Singapura lightpoint, a truck ran over him, killing him on the spot.

The IO further said, “We have arrested truck driver Mahinder Singh, a resident of Shahbad in Ambala, and a case has been registered against him at Zirakpur police station.”

The victim hailed from Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh and was straying on rent in Raipur Kalan for the past few years. The body was handed over to family members after post-mortem.
