32-year-old man crushed under fuel tanker in Kharar

The deceased was identified as Sartaj Singh, a resident of Cholta Khurd in Kharar. He was returning from work when the fuel tanker crushed him.

A 32-year-old motorcyclist was crushed under a fuel tanker in Kharar on late Saturday evening.

The deceased was identified as Sartaj Singh, a resident of Cholta Khurd in Kharar. An employee of Verka Plant, he was returning home with his friend, Anil Kumar, when a Bharat Petroleum tanker hit their bike near New Life Hospital on Landran road.

Following the collision, Kumar fell on the road while Sartaj was crushed under the wheels of the tanker. The latter was rushed to the Kharar civil hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

The tanker driver, identified as Surinder Singh, a resident of Chak Holgarh Sahib village, was arrested under Sections 304A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code.

Investigating officer Chamkaur Singh said the body was handed over to family members after post-mortem.
