4,400 LEDs to light up Panchkula streets

Panchkula MC has ordered 4,400 LED street lights worth ₹2.17 crore from Surya Roshni to replace conventional lights and create smart lighting system.

The Panchkula municipal corporation has begun the process to set up 4,400 LED street lights on A and B roads of the city.

A ₹2.17-crore order for the lights has been awarded to Surya Roshni Limited, Bahadurgarh.

Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said order had been issued to supply 1,500 LED lights of 45 watts, 500 of 60 watts, 1,050 of 90 watts, 1,100 of 120 watts and 250 flood lights of 120 watts. “The lights will be supplied by Surya Roshni and installed by the civic body. After their installation, there will be no dark patches on A and B roads. ”

He said the directorate of urban local bodies had approved the project to replace the existing conventional street lights in Panchkula with energy-efficient LED street lights and installation of CCMS panels for smart lighting system. Administrative and financial approval of ₹9.90 crore was provided to Panchkula MC for technical clearance and budget allocation under Haryana government’s Divya Nagar Scheme.

“Half the amount will be borne by the urban local bodies department. All smart lighting systems will operate from a command control centre,” Goyal added.
