Police booked six supporters of Amritpal Singh for thrashing a local resident for opposing a gathering in the favour of the radical preacher.

However, the police are yet to arrest them. Police said that on March 20, the accused had made an announcement in the local Gurudwara and given a call to gather in the favour of Amritpal. However, they failed to hold a gathering.

Annoyed over it, the accused entered at the house of victim, Jagdeep Singh (28), resident of village Khokhar Klan, and thrashed him.

The accused have been identified as Rachpal Singh alias Mangi, Sanny, Harwinder Singh, Mandeep Singh, resident of the Khokhar Kalan village.

They have been booked under Section 452, 324, 323, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code at Lehra police station.

Sangrur SSP Surendra Lamba said the accused had given a call to hold a gathering in the support of Amritpal Singh and the victim was opposing it and asking people to maintain peace. Therefore, the accused assaulted him at his house.
