A 61-year-old man died of Covid-19 on Thursday, becoming Chandigarh’s 11th virus-related fatality this month.

So far in August, 20 people have succumbed to Covid in the tricity, up from 13 last month.
Meanwhile, 129 fresh Covid cases were detected in the tricity on Thursday, compared to 114 the day before. Chandigarh logged 64 cases, Mohali 40 and Panchkula 25.
But tricity’s active caseload dropped further to 819, lowest in over six weeks.
At 367, Chandigarh has the most number of infected people, followed by Mohali with 322 and Panchkula with 129.
The daily positivity rate — proportion of samples that test positive — was also down to 4.5% in Mohali, 3.8% in Chandigarh and 3.6% in Panchkula.
