Constitute ‘powerful’ committee to inquire lapses in Moose Wala’s security: Singer’s father to Punjab govt
Moose Wala’s father led a candle light march and put forward his three demands before the Punjab government, including inquiry into lapses in the singer’s security
Slain singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala’s father Balkaur Singh on Thursday demanded Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann to form a “powerful” commission to inquire lapses in the security of his son and said that efforts should be made to bring Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who masterminded the crime, to India.
Leading a candle march from New Anaaj Mandi in Mansa city to Jawaharke village, where the singer was shot dead by six-shooters, Singh also demanded a probe into Punjabi film industry’s links with gangsters.
Putting forward his three demands before the Punjab government, he said, “(Bhagwant) Mann saab is related to the same profession. I want to ask him that first a powerful committee should be constituted to inquire Sidhu’s security lapse. The committee must investigate why security was given to Sidhu and why it was taken back. It’s been three months but I have not got any satisfactory answer to this question so far,” he said.
A large number of people participated in the march, carried out by the singer’s family, demanding justice for Moose Wala.
Apart from Mansa, the singer’s fans in various districts across Punjab and even other states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Telengana, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh organised candle marches.
Cutting across borders, the fans of Moose Wala in Pakistan’s Lahore also organised a candle march.
Before starting the march, Moose Wala’s family walked from their old house in the village to the place where he was cremated. Both parents were seen tearing up while lighting candles near his statue and hugging it.
About his second demand, he said that “the Punjabi film industry’s links with gangsters should also be investigated and the money involved in this (referring to extortion). I am satisfied with the investigation of the police against gangsters, I don’t want to point a finger at them but they should also look into this side as well.
“When Sidhu was killed, ₹ 50 lakh was spent to purchase weapons. Lawrence, who was sitting inside the jail, cannot buy those weapons alone and further smuggled them to Punjab without detection. There are some white-collar people who are collecting extortion money for gangsters in return for a 15% commission. The finance control unit must look into their assets and their financial activity in the last few years.”
Further, he said that a red corner notice (RCN) has been issued against Goldy Brar now efforts should be made to bring him to India. He said Goldy is responsible for the murder of at least 150 youths in Punjab and must be punished.
Moose Wala’s mother Charan Kaur, on the occasion, said, “We are satisfied with the administration but not with the government. I was very sad today, I wanted everyone to gather on his wedding but all are gathering for this now. I feel proud of my son when thousands call me mother.”
Bullet marks from Moose Wala’s killing encased in glass at Jawaharke village
In a bid to keep intact horrors of Moose Wala’s brutal killing, the bullet marks on a wall during the firing by the shooters were encased in an aluminium-framed glass at the Jawahrke village, where singer was shot dead on May 29.
A statue of Moose Wala will also be installed on the spot at the village in his memory by the village residents. A blueprint for the construction of the statue has been put up on the same wall by the Sidhu Charitable Foundation. Jawaharke residents Gurjit Singh and Inderjit Singh have donated land for the statue.
A poster installed near the wall reads “Let’s get together for justice. Moose Wala always lives in the hearts of Jawaharke residents.”
2nd song to be released posthumously on Sept 2
‘Jaandi Vaar’, Moose Wala’s second song after his death will be released on September 2. The song featuring Moose Wala with Afsana Khan was recorded last year in July.
This was announced by Bollywood music director Salim Merchant through his social media page. In a video message, Merchant said Sidhu might not be with us today but the song titled ‘Jaandi Vaar’ is a tribute to the singer.
Later, a post was uploaded on Balkaur’s page that the release was not authorised by Moose Wala’s family.
