Students who want to change their stream or school based on their result have now been offered two more days to do so. The final merit list was to be uploaded on August 10, but now is likely to be shifted to the weekend. Students can submit their applications on https://nltchd.info/utcouns/.

Third counselling unlikely

With the compartment exams’ result now being declared, the department is also unlikely to hold a third counselling.

Speaking about this, education department director Harsuhinderpal Singh Brar said, “With the compartment exam results already out, holding a third counselling won’t be necessary, as the seats of students who didn’t clear their exams have already been vacated.”

The seats of students who were admitted provisionally will now be converted to general category seats. While the waiting list of students is yet to be updated, it is expected that private school students and those from other states who hadn’t been able to get a single seat in humanities will now also be able to apply.

2,415 seats up for grabs

As per updated figures, 2,415 seats in Class 11 are vacant in government schools. At 822, the highest number of vacant seats is in humanities, followed by vocational courses with 735 seats, commerce with 376, non-medical with 357 and medical with 125. Before the results were declared, there were 1,711 vacant seats.

Earlier, 5,253 applicants were in the waiting list for these seats, but this number is also likely to be revised to account for students who didn’t clear their compartment exams.

This year, for the first time, 85% of the total seats have been reserved for students who passed out of government schools of Chandigarh, while those from private schools and from other states will compete for the leftover 15% seats.
