Ludhiana | PSPCL holds Bijli Mahotsav to hail achievements of power sector
Bijli Mahotsav was organised by Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) and Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on the directions of the ministry of power and under the supervision of Ludhiana district administration
As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and to acknowledge the achievements of power sector in the last 75 years, the ministry of power in association with Punjab Government organised a ‘Bijli Mahotsav’ for the celebration of ‘Ujjwal Bharat, Ujjwal Bhavikh’ at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan here on Monday.
The event was organised by Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) and Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on the directions of the ministry of power and under the supervision of the district administration.
MLA from Gill constituency Jiwan Singh Sangowal presided over as the chief guest.
Ludhiana deputy commissioner Surabhi Malik, additional deputy commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, chief engineer (Central Zone, PSPCL) PS Khamba, deputy chief engineer (West Circle, Ludhiana) SR Vashisht and district nodal officer from SJVN Ashutosh Bhaguna accorded a warm welcome to the guest.
During the occasion, the MLA said the state,under the leadership of chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was making all efforts to improve the services of PSPCL.
He said it is for the first time in Punjab that around 51 lakh households would receive zero electricity bills as the state government fulfilled its promise of providing 600 units per two months (300 units per month) of free power.
The MLA said since the aforesaid government scheme came into effect from July 1, people would receive zero amount bills for July–August in September.
Bahuguna said there has been an increase in the power generation capacity from 2,48,554 MW in 2014 to 4,00,000 MW at present, which is over 1,85,000 MW than our demand.
He said that India can transmit 1,12,000 MW of electricity from one corner of the country to another using this grid.
Panchal said that the government had introduced Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020 under which the maximum time limit for getting a new connection had been notified.
Chief engineer PS Khamba said, “Punjab has also fulfilled the targets given by the central government under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme.”
During the event, students of Ishmeet Singh Music Institute also presented songs and a skit.
PSPCL holds meeting to resolve pension issues
Deputy chief engineer Sukhwinder Singh and superintending engineer (headquarter) Ramesh Kaushal, on Monday, conducted a meeting at PSPCL Central Zone, Ludhiana, to review pensions cases.
Earlier, similar meetings were held in other four zones— Jalandhar, Amritsar, Patiala and Bathinda.
Singh said all the pending cases pertaining to the pensioners of PSPCL were disposed of during the meeting and employees who are retiring between June 30, 2022 and December 31, 2022 were pursued to get timely retirement benefits.
“As many as 1,130 employees are getting retired between July 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022,” he said.
Singh added that for the convenience of pensioners, the PSPCL has set up a dedicated pension helpline for its pensioners.
“Now, retirees or wards of deceased can call/Whats app/SMS at 9646115517 on a designed format, which is available on PSPCL website, on any working day from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, for any information related to the status of their pension cases,” he said.
