The railway police here have apprehended two men for allegedly committing theft in local trains and recovered five stolen mobile phones from them, a railway official said on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Vikas Kumar, 25, of Bihar and Sandeep Kumar, 34, of Nangal, Punjab, were arrested late Friday night by Local Government Railway Police in coordination with Railway Protection Force near Lakkar Bridge here, police said.
The duo has been booked under Sections 379 (punishment for theft), 411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
They were produced in a local court on Saturday and remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
“We received a tip off that accused who had been active in stealing on trains are present near the Lakkar Bridge following which the teams of RPF and GRP reached the spot and installed a check post there. The accused tried to flee but were nabbed eventually,” the official said.
