A 70-year-old city resident was duped by four men posing as crime branch officials, who made away with her gold and diamond jewellery while she was on her way to the temple
Four men, posing as crime branch officials, duped a 70-year-old city resident of her gold and diamond jewellery in Sector-22.

The victim, Kamlesh Rani, told the police that she was on her way to the temple when a person, claiming to be a crime branch official, came up to her and told her that his boss was calling her. He took her to a man, who was accompanied by two more men. There the men warned her against wearing so much jewellery and told her about the rampant snatching cases in the city.
They then told her to remove her jewellery. To this, Kamlesh told them that she would remove the jewellery after reaching home. After this, one of the men shouted at her and told her she will have to “pay penalty” if she didn’t remove the jewellery.
The victim then removed the jewellery, including a gold ring, a diamond ring and two gold bangles, and handed it over to the accused who offered to tie it in her dupatta.
It was only when she reached home that she found out that there were only two brass bangles tied in the dupatta.
A case of cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal breach of trust has been registered against four unidentified men on Thursday.
