Red Fort blast: J&K police conduct raids in high-security Kot Bhalwal jail

A home department official informed that all the prisons will be put to stringent searches in an attempt to pre-empt possibilities of any terror module akin to Delhi blast

In the aftermath of Red Fort blast, the counter intelligence unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday conducted searches in high-security Kot Bhalwal jail, officials said.

The high security prison houses several Pakistani terrorists. “A team of counter intelligence unit of the police conducted searches in the prison in the aftermath of Red Fort blast,” said a top official of the jail, adding that nothing incriminating was found from the prison.

A home department official informed that all the prisons will be put to stringent searches in an attempt to pre-empt possibilities of any terror module akin to Delhi blast. “We searched the Kot Bhalwal prison to probe possible links between inmates and terror modules operating outside,” said the official cited above.

In January 2024, a Chinese cell phone was recovered from a terror operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from the Kot Bhalwal central jail. The cell phone was manufactured by a Chinese cell phone company ‘POCO’.

The prison authorities had later handed over the phone that was seized from a Lashkar operative Habib son of Haz Sheru, a resident of Haria Chak in Kathua district.
