State to start Panchayat games again: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar
CM also announces the opening of a medical college in Tohana’s Rasulpur village and a nursing college in Jakhal
Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced that to promote sports in rural areas competitions in 12 different disciplines will be organised at the village, block and district level by the panchayat, panchayat samiti and zila parishad.
The chief minister was in Tohana’s Bidhai Khera village in Fatehabad district where he addressed a ‘Pragati Rally’ organised by development and panchayats minister Devender Babli coinciding with the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
On the occasion, Khattar also announced that a medical college will be set up in Rasulpur village of Tohana block and a nursing college in Jakhal. He also inaugurated and laid foundation stones of developmental works worth ₹272 crore, said an official spokesperson.
Khattar announced the setting up government college (Tohana) outside the city limits, wherever about 15 to 20 acres of land would be available.
The chief minister said to financially empower the panchayats, the facility of giving 2% of the stamp duty to the panchayats has also been started. “In the last quarter of this financial year, a budget of ₹1,100 crore has been released to the panchayats for development works in the villages. Inter-district council has also been formed to strengthen the Panchayats,” Khattar said.
Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, Lok Sabha MP Sunita Duggal and JJP state president Nishan Singh also spoke on the occasion.
