Textile unit manager held for stealing raw material

Police arrested the manager of a textile unit for allegedly stealing raw materials on Wednesday and recovered stolen goods worth thousands from his possession. The accused, working at the unit for six years, has been identified as Ajay Sharma of Haider Enclave, Ludhiana.

Complainant Sanjeev Loomba, a resident of Maya Nagar, said that he owns a textile unit named Sharman Enclave and the accused has been the manager of this unit for six years. Loomba added that he came to know around seven months back that the accused is stealing the cloth, used as raw material at the unit, and selling it.

He added that he found out that he had kept stolen jackets and coats at his home. During the surprise check, 100 metre cloth were recovered.

Sub-inspector Surinderpal said a case under Section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused at Salem Tabri police station.
