AAP govt forms Special Task Force to combat pollution
Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai has announced the formation of a Special Task Force to combat pollution in the national capital.
" The current situation is such that for 2-3 days the AQI is going to remain in the 'very poor' category only because as per the prediction for tomorrow, the wind speed...will remain low...till wind speed increases, the AQI will stay in 'very poor' category," Rai tells ANI. Plan for ‘artificial rain’ pushed back
A lack of cloud cover over the city has pushed back the plan to seed clouds, which was originally scheduled around November 20, Manindra Agrawal, a scientist at the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur, who is leading the trial, tells Reuters.
"Last week radars were indicating cloud cover around that time and now they are no longer indicating that," Agrawal says.
Delhi's air quality recorded at 9 am
Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 393 at 9 am on Thursday, according to the CPCB. Its 24-hour average AQI, recorded at 4 pm every day, stood at 401 on Wednesday. It was 397 on Tuesday.
