A proposal is being prepared after studying the systems of other metro cities. LMC is studying systems of Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru to come up with the best system.
Previously the Airport Authority of India was not paying any sort of user charges to LMC.
The officials of LMC say that there will be no free service for the private company managing the airport and the company will have to pay solid waste management service charges to LMC. Municipal commissioner has directed to take service charges from the airport after his visit to Lucknow airport on Saturday.
Municipal commissioner Inderjeet Singh said, “Airport will have to pay user charges as LMC is providing them all the services. LMC has to pick up solid waste from the areas of the airport because of VVIP movement. Besides being an international airport, a number of international tourists also visit the state capital through this airport only. So, sweeping of roads around the airport is done daily by LMC besides disposal of solid waste.”
Also, the LMC has installed street lights and also maintains roads and footpaths around the airport.
A system is being worked out to take user charges from the airport.
