Saifai medical university to have regional cancer management centre
This centre will operate in collaboration with the Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute in Lucknow. The decision has been taken to ease the load on superspeciality institutes of the state capital. .
The state government has decided to establish a regional centre for the management of cancer at the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai.
It is expected to offer world-class facilities for diagnosis, treatment, and research, making cancer care more accessible to the region’s underserved population. (FILE PHOTO)

Prof Ajay Singh, vice chancellor of the Saifai medical university, said, “This centre will be a boon for cancer patients in western Uttar Pradesh.”
It is expected to offer world-class facilities for diagnosis, treatment, and research, making cancer care more accessible to the region’s underserved population. The centre will also serve as a research hub.
Dr Ayush Lohia, nodal officer for this programme from KSSSCI, said, “The cancer centre in Safai aligns with the government’s ongoing commitment to improve healthcare infrastructure and make advanced treatment available to more people.”
In the coming months, the centre is expected to be fully operational.
Dr Lohia said currently, Saifai doesn’t have a radiation machine, so it will continue as a spoke centre. Once a radiation machine arrives it would become a hub.
