The Samajwadi Party (SP) will be challenging the might of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, party chief Akhilesh Yadav said.

He added that other political parties should decide their respective roles ahead of the general elections next year.
Addressing a press conference at the party state unit office two days after national executive committee meeting at Kolkata, Yadav made it clear that SP will lead UP’s opposition alliance in the Lok Sabha elections.
He also clarified that SP will play a major role in the opposition alliance in UP.
In the upcoming assembly elections in various states, the SP will field candidates in those states where it has organisations.
The party will contest the assembly elections with alliance partners in those states, he said.
The SP chief also visited Telengana to participate in Bhartiya Rastra Samiti (BRS) rally organised by Chandrashekhar Rao.
He visited Tamil Nadu to participate in MK Stalin’s birthday programme too.
Yadav also hit out at the BJP-led state government saying they were against farmers.
He said the state government has not cleared the arrears of farmers.
Yadav also said the state government should give compensation to farmers who have faced losses due to damage to their crops in the recent untimely rains and hailstorms.
