A six-year-old girl who was left inside the Sainagar (Shirdi) to Dadar Express train after her 30-year-old father got off in Kalyan on Wednesday, was rescued by the railway protection force (RPF) on Thursday.

RPF officers found the girl asleep in the sleeper coach after they searched the train in Dadar. According to an RPF officer, on Thursday evening, they received a call from the Kalyan station manager that a passenger’s daughter had been left behind in the train which had left Kalyan station to Dadar. The official said the passenger, Omprakash Haripal Yadhav , a resident of Dombivli was travelling from Shirdi to Kalyan by the train 12132 and was seated on S-6- 5. As the train reached Kalyan, Yadav got off along with his wife and luggage.

After a brief search, he realised that he had left his daughter in the sleeper coach. “Yadav approached us, after which, we searched the train compartment Yadav was traveling in. We found that Lipika was sleeping on the seat,” said an officer from RPF Dadar.
