2 foreigners among 23 held in Mira Road, drugs worth ₹1.40cr seized

MUMBAI: In a week-long drive against drug peddlers in Mira Road, the Mira-Bhayander-Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police and crime branch arrested 23 people, including two foreigners, and seized contraband worth around ₹1.40 crore.

The special drive was carried out separately by two teams of police and crime branch in Zone 1 from April 20 to April 26. Police registered 10 cognisable offences against persons found in possession of narcotics and seized contraband worth ₹1.10 crore, including 374 gm of MD, 370 gm of marijuana, 96.29 gm of cocaine, 12.480 gm of heroin, 8 gm of brown sugar, and 3,200 ml of Lerix T-Cup syrup. Eleven persons were taken into custody, including two foreign nationals. Additionally, preventive action was initiated against 53 habitual narcotics offenders.
The crime branch team registered eight cognisable offences, seized 712.7 gm of ganja, 60 gm of hydroponic weed, 35.1 gm of heroin, and 109.9 gm of MD, collectively valued at ₹29.18 lakh, and arrested 12 persons.
“Our campaign will continue and stricter action will be taken against individuals involved in the sale, possession, or consumption of narcotics,” said Dattatray Shinde, additional commissioner of police, MBVV.
