3 booked for assaulting woman, molesting her minor daughter
The accused – identified as Mustafa Shaikh, Mumtaz Shaikh and Faruq Shaikh – live in the Islampura area of Antop Hill.
Mumbai: Three people, including a woman, have been booked for allegedly kicking and assaulting a 34-year-woman with a rod. It was also alleged that hot water was poured over her. One of the three accused also allegedly abused and molested her minor daughter. All the accused are still absconding.
The accused – identified as Mustafa Shaikh, Mumtaz Shaikh and Faruq Shaikh – live in the Islampura area of Antop Hill. The complainant woman lives in the same vicinity along with her two daughters and does household work for a living.
As per the police, on January 16, the three accused allegedly barged into the woman’s house. Mustafa, 36, made vulgar gestures and abused her daughter. He then tore her clothes and molested her.
“They then assaulted the complainant with a rod and also kicked her when she fell. Mustafa then poured hot water over the woman, who sustained burns on her back,” a police officer said. “One of the accused also took out a knife and threatened her with dire consequences if she didn’t transfer her house in his name.”
Locals took the injured woman to the Sion Hospital where she was treated for two days and was discharged, the officer added.
After she recovered from her injuries on Monday, she approached the police and filed a complaint. The police immediately swung into action and seized the iron rod and the knife used by the accused in the crime, however, the three accused are still absconding.
The police have booked them under sections 354, 452,509, 324, 323, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
