Actress duped of ₹11.5 lakh with bogus ad, Bigg Boss offer

The complainant, a native of Assam, who now lives in Andheri’s Lokhandwala Complex, told police she met the accused in December 2025.

Mumbai: Three people, including a doctor, have been booked for allegedly duping a 25-year-old actress and entrepreneur of ₹11.5 lakh by promising advertising assignments with leading brands and a spot on Bigg Boss 2026.

The accused have been identified as Rakshit Kothari, Vaishali Kothari and Dr Khushi Thakkar.

The complainant, a native of Assam, who now lives in Andheri’s Lokhandwala Complex, told police she met the accused in December 2025.

Rakshit Kothari runs ‘Perfect Woman Magazine’, which is associated with the fashion industry, and the other two women allegedly claimed they could secure advertising campaigns with leading brands, fashion show assignments and a place on Bigg Boss 2026.

Believing their claims, she paid them ₹11.5 lakh in installments between December 2025 and July 2026. However, the promised assignments never materialised and no formal contracts were executed.

When she sought an explanation, the accused allegedly offered repeated excuses. They also refused to refund the money despite her demands, prompting her to approach the Kandivali police.

After a preliminary inquiry, police registered an FIR on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust against the trio.
