Five injured as lift plunges four floors in Byculla high-rise
Among the five persons who sustained injuries in the mishap, three were taken to JJ Hospital for treatment, while one was taken to Balaji Hospital and one to Jaslok Hospital
Mumbai: Five persons were injured after a lift plunged from the fourth floor to the ground floor of an 18-storey residential building in Byculla late on Tuesday night.

The incident, reported at 10.02pm from Jay Krupa Tower, Ghodapdeo Cross Lane No 1, occurred due to suspected cable failure, as per preliminary information.
Soon after the CP Control Room alerted emergency services about a lift collapse, the Mumbai Fire Brigade, local police, BEST personnel, 108 ambulance services and ward staff rushed to the spot.
Among the five persons who sustained injuries in the mishap, Kalpita Pawar, Yash Balvikar and Usha Gupta were taken to JJ Hospital and released after treatment on OPD basis. Shipla More was also treated on OPD basis at Jaslok hospital, while Jamuna Prasad Shivhare was admitted at Balaji Hospital and her condition was said to be stable.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Manoj Jamsutkar said he had visited the injured at JJ hospital.
“It appears that the lift was not maintained properly in this redeveloped building,” he said.
