Gudi Padwa 2023: Mumbai traffic updates ahead of Raj Thackeray's rally in Dadar

Gudi Padwa rally: Adequate police force will be deployed at the venue as thousands of party supporters are expected to attend the event, the official said.

Ahead of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray's 'Padwa Melava' (Gudi Padwa rally) in Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park on Wednesday, Mumbai Police has beefed up the security and issued traffic restrictions and alternate routes to avoid any inconvenience to the commuters.

Adequate police force will be deployed at the venue as thousands of party supporters are expected to attend the event, the official said. Parking will be prohibited on seven roads leading to Shivaji Park. Traffic on some roads will be diverted. Police have also set up temporary parking spaces for vehicles coming from outside the city, he added.

Mumbai Traffic Police, in its traffic notification dated March 21, 2023, said, "Maharastra Navnirman Sena is going to celebrate 'Padwa Melawa' on Wednesday i.e. on March 22, 2023 at Shivaji Park, Dadar (West), Mumbai. In order to participate in the said Melawa many supporters and followers of Maharastra Navnirman Sena from all over Maharashtra are likely to come at Shivaji Park, Dadar with their vehicles and due to which large number of vehicles are expected on Western and Eastern Express Highway and traffic congestion will be there especially on the road leading to the function's venue".

Here's the diversions and alternate routes:

1. Parking will be prohibited on these roads-

a. SVS Road (from Siddhivinayak Mandir Junction upto Yes Bank Junction)

b. Keluskar Road(South) and (North), Dadar

c. MB Raut Marg

d. Pandurang Naik Marg (Road no. 5)

e. Dadasaheb Rege Marg

f. Lt. Dilip Gupte Marg (from Shivaji Park Gate No.4 upto Shitala Devi Temple Junction)

g. NC Kelkar Marg (from Gadkari Junction upto Hanuman Temple Junction), Dadar

2. Vehicular traffic restrictions and aletrantes routes:

a. SVS Road from Siddhivinayak Mandir junction up to Yes Bank junction

Alternate Route: Right turn at Siddhivinayak temple junction to SK Bole road, Agar Bazar-Portuguese Church, left turn Gokhale road-LJ road.

b. From Raja Badhe chowk junction up to Keluskar road (north) junction, Dadar

Alternate Routes: LJ road-Gokhale road-steel man junction right turn towards SVS road

c. Lt Dilip Gupte road from its junction on Pandurang Naik road for southbound traffic

Alternate Route: From Raja bade junction towards LJ road

d. From Gadkari chowk junction up to Keluskar road (south and north), Dadar

Alternate Route: MB Raut Road

The notification also included instructions for vehicles carrying participants for the event. It said that the vehicles coming from various areas shall drop the participants at alightment point and proceed for parking at designated places.

1. Western and northern suburbs: Vehicles coming through the Western Express highway shall drop the people on Senapati Bapat road between Matunga Railway station to Ruparel collage area and proceed for parking at Mahim Reti Bander, India Bulls Finance Cener PPL Parking, Kamgar Maidan and on Senapati Bapat Road. While Light Motor Vehicles can be parked at Kohinoor PPL.

2. Eastern Suburbs: Vehicles coming from Thane and Navi-Mumbai using Eastern Express highway will be dropping the participants near Dadar TT Circle and proceed for parking towards Five Gardens, Matunga, and RAK 4 Roads.

3. City and South Mumbai: Vehicles coming from South Mumbai using Veer Savarkar Road will drop the people at Ravindranath Natya Mandir and proceed for parking at India Bulls Finance center PPL parking. Similarly, vehicles coming using B A Road shall drop the participants at Dadar TT Circle and proceed to park at the designated parking place at Five Garden or RAK 4 Road.

Parking places for vehicles coming from the event:

1. Senapati Bapat Road, Mahim and Dadar

2. Kamagar Stadium (Senapati Bapat Road)

3. India Bull Finance Center PPL parking-Elphinstone, Mumbai

4. Kohinoor PPL parking, Shivaji Park, Mumbai

5. Aappasaheb Marathe Road

6. Periphery of Five Gardens, Matunga

7. Reti Bandar (Mahim)

8. RAK 4 Raod

The order will remain in force on Wednesday between 2pm to 12am, the traffic police said in the statement.
