Mother, daughter assaulted for feeding dogs inside society compound
MUMBAI: Mulund police booked two men for assaulting a woman and her mother feeding stray dogs; a cross case was filed for alleged trespassing.
MUMBAI: The Mulund police have booked two persons for allegedly assaulting and molesting a 24-year-old woman and her 44-year-old mother after they were found feeding stray dons inside a housing society compound in Mulund. The police said the attackers tore off the clothes of the daughter.

An FIR was registered based on the statement given by the 24-year-old woman and her mother in which two persons of the society were booked under sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force to any woman, intending to outrage her modesty), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police later registered a cross case, and the second FIR was registered based on a complaint lodged by a society member in which the mother and daughter were booked for trespassing.
According to the police, the 24-year-old complainant of the first FIR works in a private firm and lives in Mulund with her mother. Her grandfather lives in another housing society in the same locality and she and her mother often visit his building and feed stray dogs in the society compound.
A few people from the society did not like it and informed the watchman to stop the women from feeding. On the day of the assault, the watchmen first tried to stop the women from feeding the dogs and then informed the society members who came down to confront the mother and daughter.
An officer from Mulund Police Station said that the two women alleged that two members of the society misbehaved with them and even tore off the clothes of the 24-year-old. “They called the police control room, and a police team arrived at the spot and took all of them to the police station,” he said.
The cross case was registered based on a complaint lodged by a society member in which the mother-daughter duo was booked for trespass, said senior inspector Ajay Joshi of Mulund police station. “We issued notices of appearance to both the sides and allowed them to go,” he added.
