A man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly preparing counterfeit notes and circulating them in the market. Fake currency notes with a face value of ₹4,750 were recovered from his possession, police said.

The suspect was identified as Janaki Yadav, a native of Gonda district who was currently living in a rented accommodation at Gijhore village in Sector 53 under the Sector 24 police station jurisdiction.
“The suspect used to print the fake currency notes at his residence in Noida using a photocopier machine and would use them as real notes in the market. Acting on a tip-off, we arrested the suspect from his house. We also recovered fake notes with a face value of ₹4,750, two ream cases for printing fake notes, and a printing machine from the spot,” said Sudheer Kumar, station house officer of Sector 24 police station.
The SHO said that police are investigating if the suspect has an accomplice. A case has been registered against Yadav under Section 489A (making counterfeit bank notes) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. He will be produced before the court on Monday, police said.
