One held with 59 mobile phones in Ludhiana
According to the police, the accused was active in the city from past six months
The Division Number 6 police arrested a snatcher and recovered 59 mobile phones from his possession, near Sherpur Chowk here on Saturday.

Vikas Sharma, 35, of Daba area, who was living in Fatehgarh Sahib district, was arrested from Daba cut during special checking. According to the police, the accused was active in the city from past six months.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP, city-3) Jaskiranjit Singh Teja said the accused was active in several districts. He used to travel to different cities, target crowded places and snatch mobile phones, ADCP said. The accused is an addict and committed crime to fund habit, he added. A case was registered under Section 379-B (snatching using force) of the IPC.
TWO HELD WITH 16 MOBILE PHONES
In another incident, two snatchers were held and 16 mobile phones were recovered from their possession, police said Saturday.
Accused Jaspreet Singh of New Guru Nanak Nagar and Kundan Soni of Sarpanch Colony were held on the basis of tip-off.
According to the police, the accused used to commit snatchings by flashing sharp-edged weapons at their victims.
The accused confessed to have committed around 45 snatchings in the area of Dhandari Khurd alone. They also informed the police that they used to sell the stolen mobiles to one Barjesh Kumar of Jandiali.
A case was registered against the accused, including Barjesh Kumar, under Section 379-B (snatching) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), at the Focal Point police station. The duo will be produced before the court on
Sunday.
