UP man creates obscene AI video of 17-year-old student with Instagram pictures; case filed

He used photos from her Instagram and shared the fake content with her contacts, threatening her when confronted.

Ballia police registered a case against a man for allegedly using artificial intelligence (AI) to create and circulate an obscene video of a 17-year-old Class 12 student.

The accused, a resident of Bansdih town, reportedly used photographs from the victim’s Instagram account to generate the content, officials said on Wednesday.

According to the FIR, the accused created a fake Instagram profile using a handle similar to that of the student, who resides in a village under the Bansdih Kotwali area. He then shared the AI-generated video with the victim’s classmates, friends and relatives.

When the student’s family confronted the accused regarding the harassment, he allegedly responded with death threats.

Rakesh Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Bansdih Kotwali, confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
