Guwahati: Three, including minor, killed in road accident
The incident took place in the wee hours of the day when a three-wheeler goods carrier collided with a parked truck.
Three people, including a minor, were killed in a road accident in Sonapur area on the outskirts of Guwahati on Thursday morning. According to the police, the incident took place in the wee hours when a three-wheeler goods carrier collided with a parked truck.

“The goods carrier was coming from Morigaon and heading towards Guwahati city when the accident took place. All the three persons sitting in the vehicle were critically injured and taken to a government health centre in Sonapur where the doctors declared them dead,” police officials said.
The deceased, identified as Sariful Islam (17), Shakil Ahmed (22) and Mushtaq Ahmed (30), were all residents of Morigaon. Their bodies have been sent to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for postmortem.
Locals said the accident took place because vehicles were illegally parked on the roadside.
Police said that they have interrogated the driver of the truck, and he said the vehicle was temporarily parked there. “He had stopped the vehicle near the road and the blinkers were on,” the police said.
Family members of the deceased persons have demanded a thorough investigation and punishment for the truck driver, if found guilty. “Because of the irresponsible behaviour of the truck driver, we lost a family member. We need justice,” they said.
No case has been registered against the truck driver as of now, police said.
