Man kills mother for not lending money to buy liquor

New Delhi: A 25-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing his 60-year-old mother on Tuesday for allegedly refusing to lend him money to buy liquor, in Maidan Garhi, south Delhi, said a police officer.

The deceased was identified as Chinta Devi. Deputy commissioner of police (south) Anant Mittal said acting on a PCR call around 9:30 pm, a police team found the victim in a critical state at her house in Kharak village, near Maidan Garhi.

“She was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital but declared dead on arrival. During an initial probe, it was revealed that the woman’s younger son allegedly assaulted her after she refused to give him money to purchase liquor. He fled the spot after the attack,” said Mittal.

A case of murder was registered, and police found the accused hiding at the house of a person known to him in the Maidan Garhi area. The accused works as a construction labourer and had attacked his mother with the wooden handle of a spade in front of his sister-in-law, police added.
