The children, identified as Shivendra (10), Rudransh (8), and Mandavi (5), had accompanied their mother, Parvati, to the pond near Chhani Khurd village, where she was washing clothes on the bank when the incident occurred.

Police suspect the children ventured into deeper water and drowned. An alarm was raised when they were not seen for some time, following which villagers searched the pond and pulled them out.

The children were taken to a community health centre, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Circle officer of Maudaha Rajkumar Pandey said the two boys and a girl had drowned while bathing in the pond, and police were carrying out the necessary legal formalities.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the deaths and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. He directed officials to ensure all possible assistance is provided to the family, according to an official statement.
