Security forces including police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Thursday foiled an alleged Maoist plan of serial explosions with IEDs (improvised explosive device) in Aurangabad.

The forces on Thursday recovered 29 powerful IEDs and 60 meters of Codex wire during raids on a Maoist hideout on Gijania Pahar hills of Aurangabad district, police said on Friday.
Acting on a tip off, Aurangabad police and CRPF 205 Cobra battalion had launched a joint operation in the hilly region. They raided the hideout inside a cave and recovered IEDs kept by the Maoists for a serial blast attack on the forces, superintendent of police Swapna G Meshram said.
All the bombs were ready for serial explosions after being connected with detonators and wire, additional SP Rajesh Kumar who led the search operations said.
A case has been registered and the anti-bomb squad defused the IEDs, police said.
