Elected members from 23 local bodies, including Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporations, Pune zilla parishad and various municipal councils, are eligible to vote. The list has been published at all local body headquarters and the district collector’s office.
With barely 1,000 voters, both the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are in contention for the seat. Since the two are alliance partners, it remains to be seen whether the election will go uncontested or end in a friendly contest. The seat was previously held by the NCP.
