According to an official, the operation began around 8 am on Wednesday. The action is part of a wider verification exercise involving individuals who are suspected to have been in contact with the accused through social media or other digital platforms.
Officials said that across Maharashtra, around 57 individuals, including four from Pune, have been identified for questioning and background verification. Their digital footprints and communication records are currently under examination as part of the probe.
During the searches conducted in Shirur, Chakan and Warje, ATS teams seized mobile phones and other electronic devices for forensic analysis. Officials said no arrests or detentions have been made so far.
Preliminary inputs suggest that Bhatti is suspected of attempting to influence and radicalise youth through online networks for activities considered harmful to national security.
Authorities have appealed for restraint in speculation stating that the investigation is still in progress.
