PUNE The Bharosa cell of Pune city commissionerate has resolved 1,675 cases out of the 2,896 complaints related to family disputes in 2021. In 2020, as many as 1,441 cases were resolved out of 2,074 cases received by the cell. For 2022, the cell received 498 complaints and has resolved 51 of them as of March 9.

Assistant police inspector Sujata Shamne said that most disputes were that of couples. “Couples of have disputes come to us. Their grievances are heard and senior officers of the team resolve them through counselling and patient hearing,” said Shamne.
The Bharosa cell, under the umbrella of Pune city crime branch has been taking steps aimed at protecting vulnerable women. Keeping the streets safe for women, the city's Damini squad has taken action against 1,229 persons.
In January 2021, the Bharosa cell reunited 75-year-old Vimal Nivrutti Raut with her family. She was abandoned and was living off the streets for the past two years. Vimal has four daughters, sons-in-law and a total 10 grandchildren yet she had to spend her days on footpaths. The Bharosa cell helped resolve the issue, said officials.
