Two held for looting couple at Parvati tekdi in Pune

The Dattawadi police have arrested two persons for looting a couple, working as IT professionals, on Tuesday evening. One of the accused allegedly attacked the man, who was with the complainant, on his head with a sickle and caused injuries, said police.

The accused have been identified as Sachin Arjun Bhise (25) and Chetan Ganesh Yalmeli (22) of Taljai Mata Vasahat. Police said that Yalmeli is a repeated offender.
According to the police, the complainant and her friend were at Parvati tekdi on Tuesday evening when the accused waylaid the duo and demanded valuables on them. On their refusal, one of the accused thrashed the friend and hit on his head with a sickle leaving him injured. The accused later looted the couple of their gold chain, mobiles, wristwatch and cash.
Chandrakant Kamathe, sub-inspector, Dattawadi police station, said, “Acting on a tip-off about two persons with weapons seen at Parvati tekdi, our team rushed to find them. However, while reaching the said location we heard screams of a man and a woman. Then we saw the two accused trying to escape, and nabbed them. Later, they confirmed their involvement in the crime.”
Police have recovered the stolen goods totally worth ₹58,449 from the arrested accused.
A case has been registered at Dattawadi police station under Sections 397, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and section 4(25) of the Arms Act.
